Crowded high school prompts bond election of May 12 1911. Voters approve 100000 bond issue with 205 yes 55 no, 14 illegals. Site chosen south half block, ground purchased for 12400, new high school to be brick with stone trim and modern facilities.
Mayors of Ames and local officials hosted Hon Champ Clark for a ceremony marking the re laying of the worker stone for a new auditorium and 150 pupil wing. The complex will seat 700 with classrooms labs offices and two large basement gyms. Cost about 75 400 with heating plant tunnel link and an added commercial and manual training course.
Cross country camp mood dampens as star runners miss practice due to injuries and ineligibility. Merrill Manning sprains a heel tendon while Roy Scott, two mile captain, sits out. The Chicago Northwestern shows a net profit of 1 708 485.05 and the Chicago St Paul Minneapolis Omaha 685 809.89. Northwestern total operating revenue 21 905 475.44 with net income 12 747 100.01. Freight and passenger figures are listed for Iowa and interstate service, including passenger revenue 1 872 284.24 in Iowa and 2 471 242.42 interstate. A 7 percent common dividend is noted. On September 14 1911 the district Court of Story County Iowa appointed EB Bb Wilson as executor of the estate of W. Wilson deceased. All debts to the estate must be paid to the undersigned and all claims presented to the court for allowance. Dated September 18 1911.
Barbara A. Horner is named executrix by Story county Iowa district court for the estate of James W. Gregory deceased. Creditors must file all debts and present claims legally authenticated to the court for allowance. dated Nevada Iowa September 16 1911.
Coe College from Cedar Rapids will face the varsity this Saturday for the season opener. The team aims to avenge last year's losses to Cornell College and Morningside College as it seeks a win this season.
