Voters head to the polls next Tuesday as state legislators choose a Dolliver successor and county residents cast ballots on four nonpartisan questions including a $50,000 Ames county hospital and a $30,000 county farm building. The county fair grounds purchase for $6,000 and a constitutional convention referendum also appear on the ballot.
A Talbott auto driven by W. W. Talbott overturned on a grade east of town after a bridge incident. Talbott suffered a badly sprained back and minor bruises while Parley Sheldon A Bauer E W Valentine and G H Maxwell escaped unharmed. Mrs Al Lee inches toward recovery from rheumatism as her condition improves.
J C Mather falls from a street car as Iowa football powers clash on State Field Saturday. The upcoming game between rivals draws a near record crowd with Ames and state colleges fielding their best, tens of thousands expected at the stadium.
A 10 horsepower motor test in the college Electrical Engineering lab caused a pulley to loosen and fly off, damaging a nearby machine and an ammeter but causing no injuries. Separate reports describe Iowa football prep, with Ames and Sioux City Methodist upsets and a large Hawkeyes contingent, including Mike Hyland, aiming for victory and a mass rally at Ag hall.

Chas Shockley Jr. who has been ill with typhoid for several weeks is on the road to recovery and will soon be out.
L. G. Hardin has recovered enough from his recent operation to leave the hospital and was brought home this afternoon.
Mrs. Almina Sheehey died yesterday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at her Carroll avenue residence tomorrow at 3 PM by Rev. W. IL. Fowle. Interment will follow in Ames cemetery.
Hallowe'en passed very quietly this year with no serious damages reported. The writer notes the usual depredations were conspicuously absent as youngsters enjoyed safe and sane celebrations. Ghosts and jack o lanterns appeared, while some minor sidewalk overturns and sign exchanges occurred.
Carl Theodore Crooks five year old son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Crooks died yesterday morning from infantile paralysis. Funeral services were held at the family home at three o'clock yesterday afternoon led by Rev George D Crissman. Interment followed at Ames cemetery east of town.
Roland Dyer nineteen nephew of Dr Dyer and Horace Dale walked from Des Moines to Ames following famed Weston Sunday in seven and a half hours. They sought a cook. after a hearty meal they rode the interurban back to Des Moines.
Lucila Varela seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Varela developed scarlet fever Sunday morning and is ill. The household was quarantined immediately and the school room disinfected Monday to prevent spread.
Mayor Sheldon announces a special interurban car from Des Moines will return Friday night after the Roosevelt meeting. Parties traveling down will be sure of returning that night.
Try outs for the stock judging team representing I S C at the International Stock Judging contest in Chicago this fall are held Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Five men will be selected to form the team.
