Freshmen Take a Scalp in Ames Track Meet
The Iowa State College freshman track team defeated West Des Moines High School 69 to 58 at the college athletic park last Saturday. Carl Harris of Des Moines led with 13 points though he lost the final hundred yard dash. Events followed in order with winners and times including Palmer in the 100 yard dash, Macomber and others in field events, and Ames winning both relays. Born to Mr and Mrs J R Bradley on Sunday April 28 a son of standard weight. Father and son are doing well.

The Des Moines Fort Dodge and Southern Railway announced schedules for routes to Des Moines Boone and Ames Des Moines. Trains run hourly to Des Moines and Ames with 2 cent per mile one way fares, 1.5 cent per mile round trip. Steam service remains on the Fort Dodge Newton main line except fast passenger service by interurban cars.

Marksmen Badges Awarded to Co C Members
At the regular drill of Co C at the armory on Monday evening several members received state marksmen badges. Capt Knapp Lieut Scott Corporal Dewey Artificer Shultz Private Niemeier earned badges as the unit grows with eleven marksmen. Indoor range work closed the 15th with Shultz top scorer at 142 of 150. Lieut Underwood scored 140 and Corporal Ball 139 as high marks among many others.

Fire Benefit Show Planned By Ames Young People
A Monday meeting of Ames youths approved a two act plan for a home talent benefit play to aid the Ames Fire Department. The rural drama Uncle Rube in four acts will be staged at the Armory on May 1 with Armory use donated and gratis orchestra by B D Cramblit. Proceeds minus minor expenses go to a fire department reserve fund. Advance tickets urged.

Five Ames men walk to Kelley to settle wager
Fred Holmes George Kintzley and W C Latch walked to Kelley last Sunday afternoon through rain to win a self made wager. They walked the track the whole way and after settling the matter split the purse and celebrated with a seven course dinner and refreshments on returning to Ames later that evening.

Obituary: Mrs Caroline Musgrove Dies in Ames Area
Mrs Caroline Musgrove mother of Mrs Elizabeth Inglesby and Ashford Musgrove died last Friday and was buried at Ontario Saturday afternoon with Rev H D Williams officiating. Born in Ohio in 1823 she came to Iowa in 1860 settling near Ontario and spent most of her life there. An intelligent helpful church and community member, she lived in Ames briefly with her daughter who moved to Boone last year.
