Sheriff Ncases and the chained enslaved in a Tennessee incident

In Story county a report recalls Captain George Child then lieutenant in the U. S. forces who helped recover two enslaved men from Fort Pillow. Child and a guard pursued the captives and found them chained in a smokehouse. The irons were confiscated and sent to Sheriff L. Q. Hoggart. The men later aided convict transfers to Fort Madison and Anamosa.
