Inter-Fraternity Base Ball League Formed At Sigma Nu House

Representatives from seven fraternities met at the Sigma Nu house and formed the Inter-Fraternity Base Ball League. Officials include a president and secretary-treasurer with an arbitration board. Entry fees are $2, each team must provide a new ball, and games are seven or five innings with six games per team.

Aztecs Elect Officers and Schedule Committee Appointed

In the league one tie rule specifies a playoff for tied top percentages. A prize will go to the team with the highest end season percentage. Page L. Gilbert of the Aztecs elected president and C. W. Majestic vaudeville comes to city in trial show

Citizens urged to support Manager Hugo as his Majestic company plans a trial performance at the Armory on Friday evening March 8 with 25 and 35 cent tickets. If attendance proves strong, a new company will play weekly. W J Semmons begins moving his State and Burnett house to the north half of the lot for a temporary residence.

Letter from the Philippines reports Moros and fair plans

In Zamboanga Mindanao Island on January 20 1907 Cora Lincoln writes her father about a provincial fair set for February 12 18 and twentieth. She describes Moros as religious fanatics recounts attacks including a huramentado near Jolo and Parang Parang with many killed. She notes American reactions to killings and mentions Captain Lincoln and Charley being chosen for a division athletic meet in Manila. She plans to photograph the fair and describes daily sewing duties while awaiting news.

Ames Bowling Team to Represent City at National Tournament

It is now certain Ames will send a five man bowling team to the National Bowling Tournament in St. Louis starting March 16. The exact team will likely be the same as entered in Cedar Rapids last month where Ames took a large share of the prize money. Public spirited citizens have guaranteed enough funds to cover the $100 entrance fee, enabling Ames to enter despite limited finances. Attorney Pasley led a Commercial Club appeal for a citizens fund to promote Ames’ future tournament chances and city benefits.

Fundraising has secured entrance money for Ames to compete and the team will cover travel costs. The effort aims to boost Ames interests and could help secure the state tournament for next winter.

Hugo vaudeville plans could bring weekly shows to Ames

Beauties of the Yellowstone lecture by Dr Cain at MEB

Dr J D Cain presented an illustrated talk on Yellowstone National Park as the third event in the ladies lecture course at the MEB Thursday evening. Attendance was poor among season ticket holders but those present enjoyed the lantern slides that enhanced the narrative and won favorable reception from the audience.
