Farewell Day and Old Church Tear Down Planned

The Methodist Episcopal Church led by Pastor Andrew M. Shea hosts farewell Sunday next with a full program. A teardown of the old structure begins Monday for a new edifice. Evening includes Epworth League, addresses by G. W. Jones and Mrs. Jennie Beyer, and closing remarks by Pastor Shea.

Institute Row Over Ames-Nit School Building

Nevada school board refuses to close schools to let County Superintendent Welty use the high school building for the county institute. The Journal fears the institute may move to Ames, though Welty previously used Ames as a temporary residence to win a large vote and nomination. Few here recall his residence in Ames.

Mrs. Dr. Thompson of Tama spent Wednesday with George Means' wife. Miss Ida Brown of Story City was a nest of her friend Miss Evelyn Gilbert last Thursday evening. The I O O F lodge held a banquet at their hall Thursday evening. Mr. Frank Bell and family leave for Mason City Nebraska next month where he bought a bank. Rev Halbert was pleasantly entertained by his congregation Tuesday evening by a surprise party. All attended said they had a very pleasant time.

Mr Geo Starrs father visits this week while Rev Drake sent a substitute last Sunday for a field call. Mrs R W Crane and Mrs L G Rosenfeld spent last Friday in Des Moines. Meetings were held at the Lutheran church south of town earlier in the week. Little Bessie Hannegan recovered from measles and improves. Drakes family moved back to their old home near Harlan. Art and Will McCarthy loaded their cars for a new home near Artesian. Many friends wish them success.
