Nighttime shooting at Ames Hotel over window screens

Last Thursday night about midnight a shooting near the Ames Hotel woke residents. Landlord Smith fired on two youths attempting to remove kitchen window screens. Police learned the names of the assailants, and Marshal Willey told Smith to protect property and to shoot straight if needed.

May Adeline Hagen Dies at Age 3 7 Months

May Adeline Hagen daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hagen died Saturday morning at 9 after a two week illness with scarlet fever and complications. She was born November 22 1903 in Marshalltown Iowa and died June 22 1907 at the family home in southeast Ames. A brief funeral service was held at Ames cemetery with Rev A M Shea officiating. She leaves a mother father a brother and a sister.

Robertson Show Delights Ames Audiences Despite Low Turnout

The city welcomed a Robertson moving picture and entertainment night in the Armory. Willard the piccolo banjoist impressed the crowd and N. L. Baker drew strong applause with readings and songs, including a noted impersonation of Pickininny Lullaby.

Five and- Assault Case Heard at Kelley

An assault and battery case tried before Justice Campbell involved Ivan Kingsbury and Arthur Reasoner of Kelley. Reasoner pleaded guilty and was fined five dollars and costs. a similar Kelley case has recently reached Ames. A band concert is planned for Grove’s corner on Friday night.
