Park News and Local Moons in a Turbulent Era
A miscellany of small town notes from Tur Inter Ocean to Boone and Story City covers new parks Greenwood dedication, local political caucuses, tariff debates, coal strikes, and community events. It highlights Cedar Rapids' Coxeyism decline, Nevada ward representation concerns, county convention politicking, and a New York advertising anecdote. Local weather and rain observations mix with light social items and notices from Story City, Ames, and Des Moines.
Local papers show varied electoral picks across counties
Across Maxwell Tribune Collins Clipper and Story City Herald endorse or oppose nominees for county attorney recorder and congress through a mix of favors and denouncements. A humorous note from Slater News satirizes political sentiment with a medicine advertisement styled line about Champperlain's Cough Remedy.
