Tommy Brooks aged about fifteen or sixteen ran away Sunday afternoon after failing to return for supper and bedtime. His worried parents searched and learned he was last seen at the C N W depot. A card from Julesburg Colorado dated Tuesday says he plans to return in a few days. He has previously tried roaming but did not stay away long.

Club House Fire Destroys Zimmerman Boarding House
Fire of unknown origin destroyed the four story Zimmerman club and boarding house at Welch avenue and Boone street in the fourth ward. The blaze trapped upper floors, two fire companies battled flames past three o clock, and insurance adjusters arrived for settlement. The property valued around five thousand dollars carried four thousand five hundred dollars in insurance. Built soon after the old Main building it housed students near Iowa State College and will not be rebuilt at this time.

A crate of strawberries fell from an express truck during a transfer at the C. and N. W. station. The top crate nearly reached the roof of the train shed and berries rolled and spread across a large section of the platform during the rush hour.
Mrs M O Warrick Des Moines Death Leaves Nevada ties
Mrs M O Warrick mother of Nevada Sheriff Warrick died in Des Moines last Thursday night at her daughter Miss Georgie Warrick home. Brief funeral services were held in Des Moines Friday and her remains were taken to Nevada for interment. The Warricks came to Town in 1863 from Indiana traveling by stage to Boonesboro, then settling in Nevada.

False alarm after gravel pit cave in near town
A report of a cave in at the gravel pit east of town prompted Marshal Ricketts and Dr. Maxwell to rush to the scene. They found no one harmed as the supposed laborer was walking toward town uninjured. the cave in did occur but no one was trapped.
