Boone county convention settled the Boone Story county senatorial race for the next term. J A Ericson received 46 votes, L Moore 41, M Brooks 2, in an informal ballot that was formalized. The result kept Ericson in the senate amid a lively, closely fought session.

Webster City Freeman Tribune reports a plan to build the Webster City Boone electric railway with Des Moines as southern terminus and Webster City as northern. Spurs to Ames and Story City are proposed. The project seeks a state law similar to Ohio allowing use of public highways for rights of way outside city limits, to lower costs. Backers include eastern capitalists. line length about 125 miles, cost estimated at 1.5 million dollars. Construction hoped for summer 1904 pending legislation and equipment availability.
