Famous football star Si Lambert dies after illness
Everett Lambert known as Si Lambert, famed western football star and 1908 captain, died in Denver hospital after a recent illness. Son of Mr and Mrs W R Lambert of Ames, he had been ill for weeks and was in hospital with his fiancée Miss Hill by his side before death. Funeral arrangements were to be held in Newton after remains arrive.

Dog Trouble Hits Burnett Street Resident
A bull dog attacked Mr. Green on Burnett street last Monday causing a painful leg wound. Dr. Maxwell treated him and the injury is improving. The dog has a history of offenses, and officials hope this will be its last.

Bicycle Crash Cuts Jaw and Tears Ear in Ditch Mishap

The Brotherhood of American Yeoman from Boone Kelley and Ames held a picnic on the college campus last Thursday. A basket dinner at noon preceded a 2 15 call by J E Judge and welcomes by President Storms and Mayor Sheldon. Speeches from Wennerstrom Des Moines Sayles Ames Crain Ames and others followed amid music and various races. Weather reduced attendance but a royal good time was reported.

Miss Lottie Bateman attended the county normal at Nevada last week. Andrew Crooks and family visited at the E Pose gate home. Two Rolands from Ames visited the Powell home. Local graduates numbered ten from Milford in the common schools exercises at the M B E church in Nevada. Several residents attended the Nevada exercises. J W Bateman broke bruises from a hay mow fall. John Taylor in Grant had a serious accident breaking three ribs. Mrs Crooks and children attended Yeoman picnic on college grounds. Mildred Porter was ill at the week’s start.

City Council OKs New Pump for East End Well
At Monday night’s meeting the city council authorized the purchase of a new pump and motor for a new well on the city lot in the east end. The well is tested and nearly exhaustible, capable of delivering four hundred gallons per minute, bought for 1069 dollars.
Fire at Greys House Extinguished With Small Loss
Last Friday afternoon a fire was discovered in the back part of Alexander Greys home. Mrs Sallie Stalker Smith driving by saw the smoke and gave the warning. Neighbors with pails and hose joined quickly and the blaze was extinguished. Damage was very slight.
