The world champion stallion Montelle died after an accident at the Milford stud farm northeast of the city. He opened his stall gate, ran exhaustingly until overheated, tangled a wire fence, severed a tendon sheath, and developed blood poisoning from the wound. Veterinarians failed to save the valuable animal valued at $6,000, a foundation for Frey’s big Story county breeding operation.

General conference of Methodist church to meet in Baltimore

Thursday of last week Mr Chelley of Jewell Junction bought the stock of the Novelty store from Clarence Hunter. Chelley has shipped goods to Jewell Junction this week and will move into a building there to run a general racket store. Hunter left for Dakota to file a claim. Mrs Hunter and children followed on Saturday. The Champion Jag notes Ames hosts a notorious booze fighter known for deep sleep in a residence, where a neighbor’s broom drove him out, later found asleep on the tile floor and removed by the marshal with ice tongs.

General Lincoln learned his son Lieut Francis Lincoln was injured July 9 at target practice in Baltimore when a primer failed and a cartridge exploded. He went to investigate himself, struck a button on his uniform, and the blast injured his abdomen.
