An elderly man named J. K. Kolline of Ames was injured when a team he rode with and Martin Lund ran away near Ames. Kolline, nicknamed Jack, had recently been to Boone and reportedly drank heavily. He suffered a broken jaw but is said to be improving.

City Council Installs New Members and Forms Committees

The city council met in regular session and passed routine bills. New members Baker Hullibarger and Wilcox were sworn in by the mayor. Committees were appointed for the year including Street and Alley, Finance, Sidewalk, Electric Light, Park, Water Works, Sewer, Claims, and Public Buildings and Fire Department. A release was signed regarding Boone street on the franchise line. A special sewer extension assessment was approved. The council adjourned to April 2, 1907.

Jersey Thompson Lands Telegraph He Adopts Main Office Post

George Thompson known as Jersey leaves Ames to take charge at the Western Union Telegraph office in Barraboo Wisconsin. He has spent two years as a messenger here and twice filled in as chief operator during absences. His family and friends in Ames celebrate his advancement in the telegraph field.
