Retailers advertise extensive assortments in wool, silk, and wash goods, claiming prices lower than larger cities and inviting customers to compare. The notice stresses breadth of stock and willingness to prove value to shoppers in Ames.
The Ames city election produced a record turnout with 339 total mayoral votes. Galen Tilden leads the field, defeating Chamberlain as ward results show Tilden winning key precincts and the council to be sworn in next Monday evening.

Robert Clinton Allen born June 1 1856 Crawfordsville Iowa died March 28 1908 at his sister's home Ames Iowa after a long illness. He worked for 27 years in C N W railway bridge and building dept. He was honored by Masons and Eastern Star and his funeral was held at his sister's home with large attendance despite heavy rain.
BE O Hadwin son, a well driller, sued J W Simms for sixty dollars claiming payment due for drilling on the Simms place last fall. After a lengthy argument Attorney Underwood secured a verdict for fifty two dollars, noting Simms had withheld payment claiming non completion.
Tilden Brothers received a letter this week from Hart Shaffner and Marx praising their Ames Times advertising. The Times is credited with ads that attract attention.
Oscar Litchard a 60 year old bachelor formerly of Ames died by his own hand at his home in Custer City Oklahoma on March 24. A farmer and long time resident he moved to Oklahoma in the early 1890s with homeseekers from the Ames area. He previously lived on the Simmons farm south of Ames and survived a railroad accident near Graves farm when struck by a freight train while driving a team and wagon.
Ames March 31 Special reports F E King unanimously re-elected city superintendent of schools for two years. He has served three and a half years with Ames schools improved. Dean Barr, acting for the state inspector, inspected the schools and praised the work in progress.
