An 19th century style note discusses scrofula in children and consumption in adults as linked to poor blood. It asserts fat as a remedy and promotes cod liver oil as the healthiest fat to bolster strength against these diseases.
Romaine Coe born 1810 in Connecticut died 1905 in Arkansas lived to 95 if aged 1800 1900 span. He pre-empted in Arkansas at 77 and settled in Ames with son Seymour. Survived by two children from nine born and a long Republican Christian life.
The Story County Board of Supervisors met by adjournment with J O Michaelson and E R Silliman present. E R Silliman chaired pro tem. Damages for County Ditch No 7 near Kelley were decided with several claimants awarded sums from 50 to 550 dollars. some claimants received none. Bids for 1904 financial report printing were opened and awarded to L R Shepherd Publishing Co of Maxwell. The meeting adjourned after approving minutes and continuing to June 7 1905.
A county Sunday school convention will meet in the M E church of the city on May 17 and 18. The program lists prayer services, sessions on organization and local canvassing, township standards, devotional periods, and an afternoon election with Ames to entertain.

Marshal Willey traced and arrested Fred Alyn after he stepped from a train and claimed a theft involved two diamond rings and a breast pin. The woman implicated admitted the crime, received the diamonds back, and charges were dropped after a promise of marriage. The piece also notes Jennie Eveland’s funeral and a public meeting in Ames about Fourth of July celebrations.
