Farmers' Supply Co. swindle warned in Worth County
A Worth County notice warns farmers of two men posing as agents for a Farmers' Supply Company of Ausvin, Minnesota. They solicit local agents with a $125 note marked as security, pairing with likeminded associates linked to a prior similar outfit. The goal is to trap farmers into handling uncollectible debts and forego real responsibility. The report urges farmers to shun the pair and report to authorities, citing the risk and past paper scams. Also: a tramp jailed for stealing a blanket escapes from a city jail by sawing through a seven inch gap. Rev. Hicks mourns the death of his father Silas Hicks aged 68, a Canadian-born homesteader who lived in Webster, then Saline counties, Nebraska.

Light Plant and Water System Bond Question for Town Falls
Ames party observes a modern light plant in operation and weighs options to bond for a combined water and electric system. Local valuation about 360 000 dollars limits choices to a single system, preferably the water, with costs of a plant similar to Iowa Falls estimated at several thousand dollars for building, boilers, electrical station, and 500 light installations. A riverfront site and terrain influence lighting challenges and value to the town.
