State Elections Outlook Across Eight States

Next Tuesday general elections will occur in Massachusetts New Jersey Pennsylvania Maryland Virginia Ohio New York and Iowa. Democrats are only reasonably certain of carrying Virginia and Maryland with potential in New York and New Jersey hampered by internal divisions. Ohio sees a gallant Democratic fight but odds against victory and a Pennsylvania majority remains Republican. These results unlikely to affect next year’s presidential race unless New York yields a solid Democratic win which would erode Republican prospects and feasibly concede Cleveland’s election.
