Chats With Knowing Men on the Southern Negro Issue

Ex Governor Bullock of Georgia discusses the South’s racial and economic shift in a New York Star interview. He asserts property ownership as key to conservatism and lawfulness among Black citizens, praises small holdings, notes white political decline since 1877, and argues education should be practical rather than collegiate. He claims Georgia’s material progress, rising Black land ownership, and diminishing race prejudice reflect a transforming society.

Trade closes in Bartow for 17000 acres and $190000

Etowah iron and manganese buyers secure 17000 acres in Bartow county with 190000 in cash. Nashville and Birmingham representatives lead a syndicate planning a new town north of Cartersville and factories including furnaces and mills. North Georgia may see an unprecedented boom, per Mr. Aaron Haas. The piece also notes public health calls and a medical ad for Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery, and mentions the illness of Hon. John McRae and Mrs Winslow’s soothing syrup for teething. Twenty five cents per bottle.

Remarkable Cancer Case Treated by P. P. P. Remission

A Georgia physician reports a remarkable recovery in an eight year old Negro child with a nose and lip ulcer misdiagnosed as cancer. After administering Prickly Ash, Poke Root and Potassium for two months, with zinc lotion for cleansing, the ulcer healed and remained closed. A later ankle sore also yielded to the same treatment. The writer notes the subject is now healthy. A Griffin real estate transfer is noted: land sold for $1,200 to a Kentucky buyer, two years after a $650 value was suggested.
