Monster kite lifts man to near a thousand feet

Amos Evers of this village joined a revelry at Bragg's bar when a 96 pound monster kite was tested. The rope ran out and he was lifted by the craft to about a thousand feet, dangling after a seven hour ascent. He survived and rejoined his community days later, recounting a harrowing climb and fall with bruises but no fatal injuries. He had landed miles from Alpena, found by Henry Beeson and George Blackett near Mill Brook Hampshire County.
