Montrail Ga April 14 The Quarterly Conference of the Moultrie Mission M E U B S held. a church was organized with members. The old courthouse is to be conveyed to the church. Preachers Anthony Callaway Wells and local ministers attended. Aaron Daniels, recently found dead in the woods, left a brother Te who inquired into the death and learned the other parent died similarly. Live Oak school near town closed after credible exam. speeches, recitations and a lively crowd. Trade dull. wildlife and spring scenes described. crops look good. frost on the 9th. Sunday Schools growing. courtship signs noted.

Stormy night passes with little damage near Harenes Station
In Quitman County on Saturday night a severe thunderstorm lit the sky with continuous lightning. A heavy downpour soaked soil and helped cotton seed but left oats slow to grow. Monticello hosts a Sunday school meeting with 43 names enrolled and plans to obtain literature. Mrs. Allen of Thomasville plans a summer visit, and Dr. J W Mercer and wife attended a fremante tournament in Macon to watch firemen exercise.

Turner Cheats the Law and Hangs Self in Cell
Grantville Ga April 18 Pleasant Turner known as Tobe Turner of Meriwether county was due to be hanged for murder in Greenville but killed himself about an hour before the execution. He was brought to Grantville heavily intoxicated and placed under guard. He admitted killing Shuttles and twice attempted suicide before choosing death by hanging with a silk handkerchief, dying in his cell and leaving the crowd disappointed at the aborted public execution. His family reacted with relief as they learned he preferred death to the gallows.
