Houston Powerville fruit farms boost local orchards
The Journal cites Powersville as a rising fruit center near Houston with two hundred acres in cultivation. Pioneer S. H. M. Cliett shows a forty five acre farm with apples, peaches, pears, and strawberries. several other growers, including W. E. Warren and O. A. Kett, manage extensive plantings of grapes, plums, and apples. The sector plans early season shipments from late April to October and projects about ten thousand dollars in net profit if weather cooperates.
