Hotel Plans Show Competing Designs for New Building
The Improvement Company committee reviews two hotel plans by W. H. Parkins of Atlanta and B. L. Norrmann of Atlanta. Parkins’ square four to six story design contrasts Norrmann’s more ornate plan resembling the Hotel Alcazar with three to five stories and 120 bedrooms. Public viewing was restricted as the committee considers which plan to accept, with several members favoring Norrmann. Real estate transfers follow, listing numerous Lot sales and prices across streets in the area. A Macon windstorm caused damage between Macon and Fort Valley, tearing planks from coal chutes and blowing down wires, delaying trains by about 30 minutes.
