Heavy gun fire from Kiangsu forces directed toward Kianting Hwangtu and Lungwha north and west of Shanghai. reports say Chekiang provincial troops defend the city. William Harrison Rockwell, president of the National Bank of Thomasville, died in a local hospital at 10 p.m. Sunday after a short illness. An appendectomy operation yesterday revealed his condition to be critical. He was a prominent local banker and civic figure in Thomasville.

Training Scroll Opens Here Tonight at First Methodist Church

The Standard Training School for the Americas and Cordele Districts opens this evening at six at the First Methodist Church. Instructors arrived Monday. a strong enrollment from Americus and Cordele is expected. Schedule lists two classes from 6 to 7 and 8 to 9 with lunch from 7 to 8. A preliminary meeting Sunday drew teachers from the First Methodist and Lee Street churches. About seventy five local students enrolled.

Edmund D. Bigham of Florence county, accused of killing five family members to gain possession of property, will be brought from Florence to Conway for another circuit court trial. The once widely known prisoner, three times convicted of murder, awaits the life case with a stoic demeanor. He previously lived in Americus before moving to South Carolina.

Georgia Boys to Omay Show at National Dairy Event

Georgia farmers prepare for the National Dairy Show in Milwaukee from September 29 to October 4.
