Phila thwas to entertain Baracas in Leslie Ga

Leslie Sept 21 The Phila thwas will entertain the Baracas Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Harvey. Frank Wilson Jr left Sunday for Oxford where he will attend Emory college. Mrs Bradey and family returned home after summer with relatives here. Quite a number from Leslie attended the funeral of Cleve Hill in Americus Sunday. Mr and Mrs C B Johnson their children and Miss Mary Harvey of Ellaville spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs L Harvey. Miss Martha Wilson formerly in Sycamore will return home Saturday. Mrs Long and Mrs Rhodes of Smithville were guests of Mrs W My Laramore this week. Mr and Mrs J J Wilson were Tealle yesterday. Mr Will Wiggins toured our town yesterday morning. Miss Georgia Renew of Americus spent Sunday here with Miss Emma Wiggins. Oliver of Springdale spent the weekend with Miss Susie May Yarborough.

Cut Off Georgia September 23 protracted services at St Johns Lather church ended week long with fine sermons by Rev Charles Phil Ups of Plains. Cleveland Case Warns Mother Over Son’s Weight

In Cleveland on September 20, Judge Le vine warned Mrs Julia Kneabeck she will be arrested for cruelty if her son Edward weighs under 150 pounds. Previously the boy, age 19, was weighed at 120 pounds and then 154 pounds after court orders. Witnesses testified he was starved, and the judge released him to a friend pending his welfare and ordered plentiful food.

Eighty Year Old Woman Enters College in Columbus

Columbus Ohio, September 17. Mrs. A D Winship aged 80 and former Racine Wisconsin resident now living in Columbus registered today as a student at Ohio State University. She will take an optional course and attend college for knowledge. Winship recently returned from Michigan.

Funeral of Mrs. F. E. Simmons Held at DeSoto

Mrs. F. E. Simmons died Thursday at her daughter’s home in DeSoto after a long residence there. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at Oakgrove Cemetery with burial by Dr Burrows of the First Baptist church. A large number from DeSoto and Americus attended to pay tribute to a beloved woman.

Young Girl 16 Kills Men With an Axe in Newkirk

Ebby Shepard, a 16 year old from Newkirk Oklahoma, confessed to killing two men with an axe after claiming she was whipped. County officials and Sheriff Rader reported the murder occurred Friday morning at the home of J. W. Taylor and brother Tregor. She had been described as feeble minded.
