After a trip to New York the seller claims long experience in Americus and vows to offer lower prices than earlier buyers. A special emphasis on dress goods and ready made clothing follows, but prices are not quoted due to space and rush.
Advertisement touts good meals at all hours with prompt service for ladies and gentlemen. Promises best attention and lowest rates while endorsing Faro as the top option in the market.
The defense in the Howard trial argues he arrived in Frankfort about 80 minutes before the Goebel assassination and did not go to the state house until hours after. Atttorney Little details that Howard was clean shaven, not the man seen running from capitol grounds, and sought a pardon for Baker’s murder but Governor Taylor denied it. He stresses Howard’s marksmanship is not proof of guilt and notes the crowd's rifle skills and mounting pressures from Clay county. Howard testifies his train was late and places himself at the Board of Trade hotel when Goebel was killed.
The last Balaklava survivor, James A. White, dies at Urter Sanovaky O on Sept 19. White, who lived near the area since 1557, was believed to be the final of 21 survivors from the Charge of the Light Brigade. The report notes 625 men joined the charge and over 600 fell.
