Americus Council Unanimous on Bond Issue for Streets Water
The Americus city council voted unanimously to place a 100000 bond issue on the ballot for October 22 to finance street improvements 75000 and water system upgrades 25000. Interest at 4 12 percent yearly for 30 years, bonds to be sold at par. The city may issue up to 180000 but will sell only what is needed, possibly not the full 100000. The mayor noted we may proceed with paving the business section and other streets citizens desire. Tax rate impact to be clarified.
