Proposal to amend Georgia Constitution for elected judges

The 1807 General Assembly enacts amendments to article 6 of the Georgia Constitution. It changes how judges and solicitors general are elected, sets terms, vacancies, and governor appointments, and directs publication and voter ballots in next general election. The governor is authorized to submit the amendments to a state vote with three separate ballot options for ratification.

Free Rural Mail System Trial Planned in Newton County

A new rural free delivery plan will test mail service in Newton County with Starraville as the central station. A carrier will run a daily round trip of roughly 24 miles, delivering free to residents, selling stamps, collecting mail, and returning to the central station at night. If approved, service could start around October 1.
