Jewish Colonization Association forms in London

Articles of association establish a limited liability company named the Jewish Colonization Association with office in London and a capital of £2,000,000 in 30,000 shares. Baron Maurice de Hirsch subscribes 19,000 shares. seven London and Paris owners hold one share each. The aims are to aid Jewish emigration from Europe and Asia to colonies in the Americas for agricultural and commercial work. No European colonies. The charter limits dividends and directs residuals to Jewish institutions abroad. Governance by a council of 3-6 directors for five years. salaries limited to officers paid for full-time work.
