Cotton production forecast for year at 13.74 million bales
The United States Department of Agriculture estimates this year’s cotton crop at 13 740 000 bales on a 500 pound bale basis, based on conditions as of September 1. Last year yielded 13 627 26 bales. Georgia and Tennessee show strong yields. Sumter County is expected to produce about 25 000 bales with over 11 000 bales already received in local warehouses.
