A small crowd bade him farewell at the station while reception committees from Springfield and Kenton awaited him. Notable attendees included Somnal Gipp James Claypool committee members Durbin and Finguigan. A brief stop occurred at London for handshakes. Bryan made no remarks about the Vermont election.
