Colonel William Mitchell pleaded not guilty to the Army charges in a court martial. The court recessed until Monday after the defense failed to secure a bill of particulars and objections were overruled. Proceedings made little progress as prosecutors read the accusations and both sides prepared for witness examinations.
Americus will host the Southwest Georgia Field Trial Association meet starting November 25. The drawing for three stakes will be at 8 30 that night at the Windsor hotel. Trials open to any bird dog that is bonafide property of a member and handled by a member. Grounds cover about ten thousand acres near Americus, with piney woods and cultivated land. Three stakes puppy derby all age, with three places to win in each. Silver loving cups awarded to each winner. Mr Oliver invites amateurs to join.
Atlanta business men say Georgia and the South captivate national attention as caravans of tourists move through the region. The East sees investment prospects, the West notes new agricultural and industrial opportunities, and the South feels a rising life in its industries and commerce.
Atlanta reports gasoline tax revenue of 1.3 million dollars for the third quarter ending September. The levy rose from one and a half cents to a higher rate last summer, but the increase only began in September. Paris reports the Greek army completed the evacuation of Bulgarian territory at midnight yesterday eight hours before the league council deadline. D F Thompson of Winder Georgia is dead and O W Smith of Winder is believed dying after an automobile collision with a Georgia Railroad passenger train at Sam's Crossing east of Decatur depot Thursday night. Both occupants were from Winder and the incident occurred about six miles from Atlanta.

Jacksonville news says inbound freight embargo extends from major point to all Florida areas after a Florida railway officials session. Permits will allow general traffic only as unload capacity and railroad handling permit perishable traffic movement. J T West a leading Thomson Georgia lawyer aged 66 shot himself accidentally while dove hunting on his farm near Thomson. He will be buried in Thomson. Survived by sons J Quinn West of Thomson and Roger H West of Daytona Beach and daughter Mrs T F Fleming of Fort Lauderdale.

An unidentified man about 65, likely a painter, was found dead outside Haines City. A bloodstained wrench, hair, glass fragments in the scalp, and a ring with initial G were found. Coroner's inquest ruled death by unknown persons. no identification papers recovered. police seek clues.
H C White of the Central of Georgia Railway announces that starting Monday Americus will see 16 all steel tourist trains daily. The Floridian will run Chicago to Miami via Birmingham and Americus with Pullman DeLuxe facilities including club car observation dining and drawing room sleeping cars to Miami. The Dixie Limited resumes Chicago to Miami service with coaches dining cars and sleepers. These trains promise refined modern travel to Florida, and Americus will be a regular stop for all of them.
The County Agent H J Cilett says a hog sale will be held November 16 for Sumter farmers. Hogs were short of the guaranteed car weights, causing prices to fall by about three quarters of a cent, as buyers waited for more hogs. He urges local producers to list pigs for sale promptly to provide buyers with a definite load.
