Doorn Holland October 30 a stone thrown by an unknown hand wounded Princess Hermine in the ear while she walked with her children near the ex-raiser's chateau. Police arrested several persons but the real culprit is believed to have escaped.
Affidavits filed in county court document Mrs Helen Steele saying Klan official Tom Akers urged her to sue E Y Clarke for breach of promise. Additional statements claim a frameup and recorded conversations between Steele and Akers. Another deposition cites Klan investigator J J Bracewell advising no point in a Louisiana inquiry after two men were found dead in a lake.
County farm demonstration agent George O. Marshall urges Sumter farmers to harrow and drill oats now on dry land. He cites department of agriculture trials showing October plantings yield eight times more than later sowings. He advises using firm seed beds and drilling to beat delays from dry weather, especially on cotton land.
Senator Curtis of Kansas said after a White House visit that bonus legislation is likely to pass soon while Congress could also reduce taxes in the upcoming session. He warned the main hurdle is achieving agreement among congressional groups on a tax reduction plan.

APLLANTA Oct 30 An order suspending the effective date of its general order res adjusting commodity rates from November 15 1923 to January 15 1924 has been issued by the State Public Service Commission affecting cotton and iron and steel articles.

Greenville South Carolina Oct 30 Miss Kate Cleveland 20 and A J Carroll 42 were found shot to death in a room of the Carroll home. Officials say the woman mortally wounded by Carroll after a quarrel wrested the pistol and shot him, both deaths in the same room.

Det. 30. Jack Faulkner four years old son of Marshall Faulkner was instantly killed when struck by an automobile allegedly driven by Perry Hillard. Hillard is held on a murder charge.
Governor Walker announced from Atlanta that he will urge officials of the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech to resume athletics relations. He said the appeal aims to restore normal relations for principle, not a single game, to avoid embarrassment for either institution.
In Kansas City Missouri on October 30 the fourth convention of the American War Mothers opened with governors nominating the most sacrificing mothers by state for the World War. The Kansas City chapter hosted the gold star mothers and led a granite boulder dedication to Jackson County’s soldier head. Each state sent soil from its capital or special city to mix at the memorial site, with water added by representatives from both coasts.

Atlanta October 30 W T Anderson editor of the Macon Telegraph was appointed to fill the vacancy on the state highway board following the death of Robert C Neely of Waynesboro and has accepted The governor said the board should be free of politics and composed of high minded business figures Anderson has over two years left in his term which expires December 31 1925 Neely serving a six year term since the board's creation in 1919 Neal A Ray of Americus was considered but declared ineligible due to the territorial nature of the appointment
Richmond, Va. October 30 David Lloyd George former British premier urged Americans to join Britain in pursuing humanity and peace. He spoke at a luncheon hosted by John Stewart Bryan, describing battlefield scenes and calling for worldwide peace through allied effort.
Rome geologists and Birmingham iron men report the second largest southeast iron ore deposit has been found on Taylor's Ridge between Rome and Summerville in Chattooga county. The west side of the ridge hosts the new deposit, praised for size and purity, trailing only Red Mountain. Local excitement grows as plans proceed to work the ore.

On Central avenue in Kansas City Kansas a Russian named Askelenko Yovanovich, 30, fired an automatic pistol at passing motorists. Eugen D Holt was struck and likely fatally wounded. Yovanovich barricaded himself in a basement home, was captured by patrolmen and detectives, and was found with an unopened umbrella over his head and a sack holding 400 rounds of ammunition along with two automatic pistols on the bed.

Augusta October 30 N Steinberg a local store keeper chased a negro who fled when spotted hiding behind the store. The man leaped into the canal to avoid arrest but Steinberg crossed the canal bridge and captured him after a brief swim on the opposite bank.

Paris reports a French court awarded Mme. DuBois 235 dollars for mental anguish after her second husband died minutes after their wedding when the honeymoon car was struck by a streetcar. The widow, aged 52, had earlier lost her first husband in an auto crash in which she was severely injured.
Captain C R McMullen piloting a small skywriting plane for the American Tobacco Company to advertise Lucky Strike cigarettes wrecked the aircraft plummeting into a field east of Macon as it attempted an extremely slow landing. The running gear and propeller were demolished and the machine was damaged beyond use while the pilot and mechanic escaped unharmed.
