Rock Becomes End Of Threatening Encounter In Georgia

Yesterday afternoon about 3 30 o'clock Joe Daniels and Tom Shorty two black men fought after Shorty followed Daniels with a knife and cursed him. Daniels, fearing for his safety, picked up a two pound rock and threw it at Shorty from about fifteen feet, striking him on the forehead. Shorty dropped, apparently dead. Bystanders say Shorty had continued to threaten Daniels despite warnings. Daniels acted in self defense and may be freed. The rest of the item advertises coats, a minstrel show, a truck farm property listing, a ladies meeting for a fair, and a farm fire incident with a Black child among the casualties.
