New York October 29 John W Davis Democratic nominee issued his second pre election statement outlining campaign issues. He argues farmer unrest must be heard at the White House and in Congress and that the farmer's purchasing power should equal the manufacturer's.
In a telegram to the Times-Recorder editor Senator Walter F. George urges a full vote for the Democratic nominee. He says a strong Democratic vote in key states can influence Congress, noting Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Missouri as Democratic and Indiana likely close but favorable to the party.
Chinese efforts to arrange a peaceful understanding between warring factions gain little traction as Wu Pei Fu and Feng Yu Hsiang reportedly reject talks. Meanwhile Japan to reinforce Tientsin with two more companies and armoured units from Manchuria due to potential clashes between Feng Yu-Hsiang and Wu Pei-Fu.
G W Sherill of Wheeler Publishing Company will demonstrate silent reading to Sumter county teachers at the regular meeting Saturday November 1 at 10 o clock in Superintendent Supree's office. All teachers urged to attend.
London voters go to the polls to choose a new Parliament replacing the dissolved body of Prime Minister Ramsey MacDonald. Labor hopes for continuation in power clash with broad public sentiment that the government may be repudiated.
London report says a 20 day campaign, the shortest in history, ended in a burst of oratory. Gigory Zinovieff allegedly signed a pledge urging communist overthrow. Ramsey MacDonald canceled a key speech, exhaustion noted. 50 women, including Viscountess Astor and Margaret Bondfield, faced the final round with hope of reelection.
Atlanta Oct 29 With three days left to file certified statements for registration with Georgia Secretary of State all corporations must submit by November 1 to avoid a $50 penalty. State officials note about 3,500 of roughly 5,000 have filed so far leaving around 1,500 outstanding. Initial filing costs $1. annual returns cost 50 cents.
NEA Service reporting from Chicago quotes Jane Addams predicting a realignment in Republican and Democratic parties driven by new political issues. She envisions revived nonvoter interest, three cornered factions, League of Nations support, and compulsory voting as undesirable.

Luverne Ala Oct 29 One hundred bushels of pears are reported from a single tree on the farm of T L Morgan near Luverne. The crop is said so plentiful that most pears are being fed to hogs on the Morgan place.
Local Times Recorder interviews four to five Sumter County residents about the presidential race. The sample shows a Democratic tilt with voters split on a close contest and expectations of Davis winning. Interviews include J F Monahan J A Pinkston Ruth Clarke and J P Stackhouse Jr plus a note on common house fire causes from careless drying and discarded cigarettes.
Columbus police report no new leads on J. L. Bryant a Moultrie businessman missing since yesterday after a man answering his name Bryant asked to park his Ford touring car near the Murrah building and said he would return home at daylight. He weighed about 150 pounds 5 feet 12 inches tall wore a khaki shirt and trousers leather leggings gray cap and blue coat. Officers pressed no further inquiry as the man claimed to have studied in Columbus years ago and had driven from a nearby town to see old friends.
The Southwest Georgia Field Trial Association, led by Dr. W. B. Oliver and Lucas Thiers, will host a three class field trial in Americus on November 17. Judges John C. Grant and W. L. McElmurry head the panel, with entries drawn for puppy, derby, and all age heats. Nine trophies will be awarded. entries open to wider Georgia sportsmen beyond Americus and Sumter County.
The League of Women Voters will hold a 10 30 a m mass meeting at the court house to urge every woman voter in Americas to cast a ballot in the November 5 bond election. Mayor Poole and aldermen will speak on city finances and bond negotiations. Registration closes Saturday night. all eligible women urged to register. Atlanta officials directing Davis campaign fear an organized Ku Klux Klan effort to peel votes from the Democratic nominee. Clippings from the Searchlight show the Klan newspaper broadcasting in the state just before the election, with a heavy front page attack linked to John W. Davis and a report from an Indianapolis address.
Washington reports the Senate committee on campaign funds subpoenaed W H Steed and Otto Blandt of Chicago amid charges of bribery of labor leaders. Frank P Walsh asserts funds exceed 3 million with large disbursements across Tennessee Nebraska Cook County Iowa and others. Records show the fund reached 2 819 988 by October 20 with Dawes tours costing 22 585.
