Detective Haney shoots attacker at Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line depot
In Greenville on October 23 detective T N Haney, ex Gainesville Ga police chief, shot and killed James Batson of Clifton DC at the Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line depot after Batson, reportedly intoxicated, drew a pistol and fired on Haney. Haney says it was self defense and surrendered. Batson had not prior contact with Haney. The case moves to trial.
