London report says Britain favors the American proposal allowing searches for contraband within 12 miles of the U S shore. The imperial conference export committee led by Secretary Curzon outlines plans to meet the core aims of the request.
Charles R. Forbes former Veterans Bureau chief issued a broad denial of Mortimer’s bribery claims ahead of his sworn Senate testimony. He said the charges against his personal and official integrity are without foundation and pledged to testify fully under oath.
A major blaze this afternoon completely destroyed the Schneider Marble Works plant. Originated in the garage where an automobile was stored. Harry Schneider escaped. car moved too late. Office contents saved except a heavy iron safe. Marble destroyed by heat. oil drum exploded, smoke billowed. Estimated damage about $12,000 with $6,000 insured. Nearby five room house owned by Tom Bee Seaboard engineer sustained roof and side damage. furniture saved. House damage about $2,000.
Oscar W. Undervrood of Alabama told the Texas State fair in Dallas that America has surrendered global leadership to partisan politics. He opened his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, saying the South should be allowed a southern candidate to carry the party banner while the North should support it. He urged a return to guiding American policy in Europe.

General Miles earlier introduced Brander to Mrs. Stokes at the Waldorf Astoria. Brander said he has met her only once since.
Dr. Charles Steinmetz renowned electrical engineer and mathematician, chief consulting engineer at General Electric Works, Schnectady, died at his New York home after a breakdown following a Pacific coast trip. Born in Breslau, he arrived in New York in 1889 penniless and later became a naturalized citizen.

A fatal pool room shooting in Hawkinsville and a serious wounding in Macon marked a night of violence. Hollis M. Pollock fired a shotgun at Aaron Mannheim, who died next morning, while bystander Frankle from Brooklyn was seriously injured in Macon. Multiple others were wounded as chaos spread, with police probing an unknown shooter behind a column.
D W Howell of Atlanta filed robbery charges against six Savannah men M Wilkinson John Richbourg J L Dixon Raymond Lovett Tom Murphy and Joe Simms binding them over to superior court on robbery and prohibition counts Bonds set at 2000. The men deny the charges and appeared before a U S commissioner as Howell claimed seven bottles of liquor were stolen.

John Alton Rogers, jailed in Coffee County on the 1922 murder of his brother Love S. Rogers, reportedly confessed to Sheriff Tanner that he killed his brother to obtain Love’s wife. An Elbertton wreck on the Washington Elberton State highway left Dewey Jones of Norman Georgia dead and five others injured. The Studebaker tourer driven by W H Gunter reportedly sped and skidded after overtaking a wagon, rolling over on the graded road. Gunter suffered severe flesh wounds and eye injuries, Jeff Drake suffered a scalp injury and possible internal injuries, with three others from Wilkes County lightly hurt. Doctors from Fortsonia Elberton and Washington aided the injured at the scene.
Oklahoma City Oct 26 The Oklahoma House voted two additional charges against Governor Walton in impeachment proceedings. A scuffle erupted as Representative Callahan of Latimer denounced Ku Klux Klan head N C Jewett, triggering a brawl with multiple lawmakers and a chair smashed, before order was restored and the incident referred to continued coverage.
