Amerigus Men Purchase DeSoto Plantation

The largest real estate deal in Sumter county ends with Frank Sheffield and Arthur Rylander buying 5000 acres of the DeSoto Plantation Co. land for $60,000. They plan to subdivide into 10 to 100 acre farms near DeSoto and Leslie, Georgia, boosting local growth and property values.

Mr Lee G Council praised Prof Reddicks school for negro boys and girls after visiting the Ithe Americas Institute noting cleanliness in buildings and kitchen. He urged industrious training for both girls and boys to lift the race and South. Principal Reddick nears a $1000 raise to secure another 1000 from the Gen. General Education Fund funds to extend the Institute work.
