Adrian Kenney, head clerk for Smith & Conway on Eighth street, shot and killed William W. McGehee over a disputed bill. After a confrontation at McGehee’s home and a return to the store, Kenney fired several times, with McGehee dying in the street. Kenney is in custody. McGehee left a wife and four children.

He says Russia will act first while Japan readies for conflict, viewing Corea as essential to extending commerce and predicting Russia will ultimately control it. A separate item from San Francisco notes a torpedo model by John P Perkins tested in the bay, designed for submarine use and as a conveyor of no material, steered in any direction.
Bramixomam Ala Oct 8 The Birmingham Belt railway has passed under the control of the Railway and Construction Improvement company of New Jersey. The deal links the Frisco system with the Seaboard Air Line and creates a plan for a grand trunk line from the east to the west.
Charlie Louie, a Chinaman, paid $50 to a man calling himself a service agent named Ben Hood who claimed to protect his brother from law action. Hood abducted Louie’s brother with a pretend arrest and a pistol, but police caught Hood as he was fleeing.
At Murray Cross near Lrespura Alabama October 23 Gus Moon and Croft were handling a pistol when Croft joked about Moon. Moon challenged Croft and the pistol fired striking Moon in the chest, killing him instantly as Croft cried that he had killed his best friend.
Captain Henry Hawkins, a 60 year old Mason and respected Cowan, Tennessee resident, shot himself at his home yesterday evening. He was found by his son and left a widow and six children. No motive disclosed. An unrelated item notes 75,000 bags of flour shipped to South Africa from New York.
