In Ellaville Oct 19 residents report relatives visiting in Andersonville and Buena Vista, others touring Columbus and Americus. Local officials welcome new depot agent, note several travels to Greenville, Bronwood, and Oglethorpe for church events and the Brooks Association. In Preston Oct 20 a burglary at J L Horn store yielded about 50 dollars cash, jewelry, and revolvers. detectives search for suspects as Rev. Williams arrives to lead Baptist services and Wellons departs.

Brooklyn Senator Patrick McCarren In Critical Condition

Special to Times-Recorder reports Democratic Brooklyn leader Senator Patrick McCarren is in critical condition at Saint Catherine's Hospital. Doctors give little hope for recovery as hiccups and heart weakness worsen his already frail state amid prior appendicitis complications.

In the Seventeenth District on October 18 many friends of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Turner sympathize over the critical condition of their daughter Mrs. Joe Salter. Several young women will attend the Baptist association in Bronwood this week. Local visits include Alva Hatcher and mother of Dawson with Janie May Hatcher. Renza Israel and Mittie Collins on a Smithville trip. Nan Cowart and Ethel from Bronwood visiting Mr. M. A. Turner. Tom Williams of Enterprise Alabama visiting relatives. A. K. McTylore Jr. of Bottsford as Sunday guest. Virgil Mercer of Huntington staying with B. S. Williams. J. T. Israel returning to Quincy after visiting his mother.

Batonyi Divorce Granted After Misconduct Verdict

Mrs Frances Burke Roche Batonyi wins divorce from Aurel Batonyi society whip in New York Supreme Court Judge Overum presides. Jury sealed verdict returns late last evening finding Batonyi guilty on one count of misconduct with Margaret Allen also known as Lillian Lawrence resulting in dissolution of marriage.

Embroidery Club Formed in Smithville With Hostess Miss Nettle Burton

In Smithville on Oct 13 a group of about fifteen young ladies met at the McAfee Hotel with Mrs. W Fort McAfee, forming an embroidery club with Miss Nettle Burton as president. The second meeting was at Miss Margaret Burton’s, featuring fancy work and refreshments. Other social visits and gatherings are noted, including Mary Ansley’s informal evening and various guests traveling from nearby towns. Smithville residents attend Baptist Association day.
