The state executive committee plans a full meeting at the Ansley Hotel today at 10 o clock led by Chairman G E Maddox of Rome. The committee was completed Tuesday with members from the state at large including W W Dykes Americus A J McDonald Fitzgerald O T Gower Cordele J B Oliver Georgetown W H Lassiter Vienna Mrs D C Ketchum Vienna and Mrs J W Harris Jr Americus
Senator W J Harris denounces Gov Hardwick’s attack as cowardly and false. He recalls Wilson’s wartime denunciations of rivals and says the ballot box will answer. Harris plans to stay in Georgia until congress reconvenes and will tour Buchanan and Cedartown areas. Chippewa guests visit local hosts.
In Nashville on October 20 Ed Hartley and his son George Hartley, recently convicted of manslaughter in the killing of Ed Hartley’s nephew Connie Hartley in Benton county last February, were taken from Camden jail by a mob of 25 to 50 men, shot to death in a vacant lot near the jail after overpowering Sheriff Flowers. The mob dispersed in order.
At least thirteen men are entombed in the pits of the United Coal Company mine after a gas explosion. Thirteen workers were inside the mine when the blast occurred and rescue parties rushed to reach them.
An explosion at the Gas Progressive coal mine killed eight workers and badly burned four others. Emergency responders rushed to the scene as investigators begin determining the cause and scope of the disaster.
In a clash with revenue officers sixteen miles from Cornelia, Deputy US Marshal K M Breek was severely wounded and John Deacon a moonshiner received pistol injuries. The raid on a whisky still involved BR Morse and Deacon brothers who resisted entry to the valley scene. Breek was shot in the leg and both Deacons were hurt, with Deacon’s injuries deemed possibly fatal.
In Los Angeles on October 20, over two dozen college students were injured, one possibly fatally, from burns caused by gasoline bombs and blows to the head and body after a Paramerino party on the University of California campus.

Bonar Law, born September 16 1858 in New Brunswick, Canada, is described as a decisive businesslike figure and former chancellor of the exchequer. He faces cabinet formation amid a London cabinet crisis with potential effects on US relations and British debt talks.
London officials emphasized today that government policy toward the British debt to the United States will stay the same regardless of who becomes the next chancellor of the exchequer.
