San Francisco October 18 The American Legion American Nation committee report urges annual registration of all aliens and opposes recognition of Soviet Russia as it outlines pure Americanism as its keynote at the convention floor.
Edward Wyman known as Eddie Polo, a film actor, sues Pearl E. Wyman for desertion. They wed in 1908, according to the complaint filed in Los Angeles on October 18.
Former British Premier Lloyd George, after two days in Chicago, resumed his American tour and left for Springfield Illinois. His physical condition seemed greatly improved with little evidence of a cold.
Atlanta reports two Georgia planters describe improving crop conditions in middle and south Georgia. Former State Senator Joe Davidson of Fort Valley notes cotton yields near a bale per two acres on some farms, attributed to close weed and weevil control. Dr. A H Carter of Alma says average conditions are better than several years, with some farmers near a bale per two acres.
Miss Moina Mishel of State Normal School known as the Poppy Lady of America proposes a daily taps at sunset over the Unknown Soldier grave in Arlington cemetery. She suggests the War Department or Congress fund and select a bugler from World War I veterans. Mishel, with the Georgia American Legion delegation in San Francisco, may see action before 1924 convention. During WWI she did YMCA work and prepared to sail for France when armistice came.
Americus Georgia officials press for immediate fix to recurring electric service interruptions. The light committee will meet with power officials and may appeal to the Georgia Public Service Commission if no solution is found. City engineers seek reasons for October outages and a theater manager cites $150 in losses amid disrupted performances.
In Gelsenkirchen on October 18 hungry women stormed the Lannemann Iron Works admin building in protest over unpaid wages to their husbands. They also looted food shops and searched nearby farms for sustenance. In Manheim, six to eight people died and as many were wounded in yesterday's food riots.

In Valdosta on October 17 a group of African American workers on the Jack Staten place killed a rattlesnake and cut off its head. The severed head, hung over a wire, wriggled until it detached and crawled about ten feet before curling into a coil, mystifying the observers.

In Cairo a City Court jury awarded J. J. Harrell 50 000 damages after a lengthy trial over an operation that allegedly led to leg amputation. Harrell, a Grady County farmer, claimed Dr. Walker failed to provide proper care. The defense called multiple surgeons as witnesses in a case noted for its intensity.
Multiple stores and the post office were robbed early Tuesday in Forsyth. Burglars reportedly took money, silk hose, pistols, and a flashlight. Clyde Garrett and Jeff Hand were seen near the scene and arrested after being found with about 300 pennies. they are held in the local jail.
In Monae on October 18, over 250 of about 5,000 Colquitt county residents taxed for roads face defaulter charges as warrants are issued. Georgia Cotton Growers Co Operative association filed suit and sought a permanent injunction against J H Stevens of Ellaville alleging failure to deliver cotton under contract. A temporary restraining order was issued and Judge Z A Littlejohn set November 17 for the hearing with Stevens served by Sheriff R E Battle. Stevens denied selling 1928 cotton and said he produced none this season, declining to discuss related papers.
Sparta report says W P Beman planted pecan trees fifteen years ago and will harvest at least 1400 pounds of Stewart paper Shell nuts this fall. Neighbor W T Macken, a granite and marble contractor, will market a similar quantity. Each will net about 1000 dollars from the pecans.

Mr C D Moore of New York spent several days in the locality recently, engaging with residents and touring nearby sites during his stay.
New York Oct 18 After a Brooklyn house fire last Monday that killed six people two arrests were announced today. William A Ford real estate broker and his son in law a victim family member and Raymond Anderson are charged with murder and arson. A confession from Anderson was reported by Marshal Brophy. Ford was son in law of George Keim the playwright whose death occurred the eve of the first production of his play.
Dr. Caleb A. Ridley, imperial Kludd of the Ku Klux Klan and former pastor of Atlanta's Central Baptist Church, was too ill to appear in police court this morning on a charge of drunken driving. His counsel secured a postponement until Saturday.
Senator Borah of Idaho urged Congress to pursue a plan to reduce the nation tax burden during the coming session. He clarified the statement did not target Secretary Mellon’s program, but supported any measure easing taxes.
