Col J E Sheppard prominent Americus leader and longtime lawyer died at 4 AM at his College street home from pneumonia and pleurisy. Funeral at Central Baptist Tuesday 3 PM. Masons to conduct grave service with Grand Master Joe Bowden in attendance. Survived by widow Mary Butt Parepenas two daughters Elizabeth and Mary Elza and three sons. He was twice mayor and a Georgia legislator active in prohibition and child labor laws. The Americus Bar Association to meet at 2:30 PM for funeral procession.
