Oct 8 in Chicago area a rear end collision on the Aurora Elgin and Chicago Electric Railway west of Oak Park injured several riders. Ten were rushed to hospital as a limited train struck a stationary local on the main line.
Subscriptions to the Salvation Army post in Americus total $43.00, slowing to reach the needed amount to close the post and clear its indebtedness. Capt. Boyce Peters, commandant, says additional donations are required and will be announced through the Times-Recorder as they come in.
Neal A. Ray of Americus, prominent Sumter county planter, was named by Governor Walker as Georgia's official delegate to the boll weevil convention in New Orleans from October 24 to 26. The National Boll Weevil association calls the meeting to discuss solutions to the cotton pest challenge.
Oct 8 report says Mrs Georgia Redd Mr and Mrs Raymond Hindley and another unnamed defendant were arrested in Savannah on burglary charges. A statement claims packages of morphine were handed into Chatham jail for Martin Curry and later carried to Lyons Toombs County. Curry allegedly was under the drug's influence influencing his conduct as he faced sentence.
Three convict desperadoes Monte Walters Lawrence Griffith and Harry Ferland who overran the Eddyville Kentucky penitentiary guard during a three day siege are dead. Found after exposure to ammonia gas they had been dead for over thirty six hours. Griffith and Ferland likely died by their own hand and Walters was believed to be the last to die shot through the head after a rifle grenade impact.
In Cordele Ott, residents discussed adding a large new poultry feature to Crisp County fair. Dairy feature planned as an attractive addition to the show. Chairman C. L. Williams of the livestock committee will convene the board to plan preparation.

His return date depends on German court action against those accused of kidnapping him.
John Lewis Herring editor of the Tifton Gazette and author of Saturday Night Sketches died at his home Saturday night at six o'clock after suffering acute dilation of the heart while attending a Kiwanis club event where he served as president. Funeral services were held in Tifton today.

Atlanta police suspended Patrolman J. W. Taylor for neglect of duty tied to a three month old robbery at the Atlanta Dental Parlors on Mitchell Street. A radio receiving set belonging to Dr. T. N. Godwin, part of the loot, was found Friday in Taylor's Pulliam Street home and identified by the owner.
