Fast Central train beats rival by over an hour to Atlanta

A Central line excursion from Jacksonville to Atlanta sped ahead of schedule, reaching Atlanta at 6 10 after leaving at 7 30. Americas cotton compression boosts local trade at Americus

In Americus the cotton compression plant near the Central railroad freight depot handles vast daily receipts from South Georgia and Alabama. Monthly shipments for September reached nearly 0,000 bales, with solid trainloads arriving from many towns. To increase capacity the old depot will be torn down and replaced with sheds and platforms, keeping upper and lower presses operational as demand dictates.
