A large crowd gathered in Americus as the Ham beau club led a parade through Forsyth Street to Windsor Square for a political rally. Speakers Judge J C Mathews and Charles F Crisp urged unity in the Democratic party, attacked the third party, and praised Governor Northen. Col J R L Smith closed with a sharp critique of the third party. The event urged merchants to vote and assist in the Democratic victory as Georgia and Sumter County face the election.
A white man in Lumpkin killed a colored Republican supporter after social equality talk sparked a deadly clash between rival third party leaders.
