In New York on October 3 police boats trapped and captured a $50,000 gasoline launch with $60,000 worth of whisky aboard in the East River. Engine trouble slowed the craft and four men were arrested as the vessel was held for confiscation.
A teletype from the Southern Pine Association to Secretary Hoover states the group has nothing to do with lumber prices and cannot legally join any price fixing with the Department of Labor or the Japanese government. Warrants charging murder were sworn against Mrs. Lou Pace and her 19 year old daughter Mozelle Pace after a coroner's jury found a baby found buried in a field near the Pace home in the Berlin section of Colquitt county was normal at birth and put to death by the two women.
