A freight with lumber derailed near Woonstock on the Chicago and North Western railway at 4 AM. Five boys aged 13 to 21 riding atop the lumber were killed. two others hurt, one seriously. The dead include Territ Davis of Mount Morris, Ed known as Milwaukee Ed of Milwaukee, Bert Little of Freeport, and two unidentified boys. An inquest found no new facts.
General James A Peden, born 1816 in Wilmington North Carolina, died in Jacksonville Sunday morning. He came to Florida in 1886, served in the Mexican War, practiced law, and was appointed chargé d affaires to Buenos Aires under Pierce. He represented Duval County in the legislature and held the rank of brigadier general in the state troops. He never married.

Nearby Jonas Maumberg hatters store at 510 to 514 West Thirty fourth Street also burned. loss about 75000 dollars.
