Ranksgiving Baskets Ready for Needy Here
The annual can vass to provide signing joy to the poorer fam that of the community began today with instructions for city school children to bring contributions to classrooms where a committee of women will collect donations. Furlow Grammar School will participate as in years past and Mrs I B Hooks May T S Gated Mrs A G Duncan Mrs W Dykes and Mrs C J Sherlock will assist the Associated Charities in gathering items for the baskets. A committee from McKay Hill School will visit Mrs C J Sherlock on Brown Street to help prepare baskets for the citys needy colored residents. Last year baskets totaled about equal to this year as demand rises. Mrs Sherlock treasurer appeals for names of needy persons to be telephoned so no worthy home is passed by. This season the Associated Charities seeks funds for Christmas and asks unpaid dues be sent to boost the Yuletide treasury.
