New York November 23 Tom Sharkey was awarded the decision over Jim Corbett at Lenox Athletic Club. Referee Honest John Kelly disqualified Corbett in the ninth round as one of Corbett's seconds leapt into the ring amid alleged fouls by Sharkey. Crowd-pleasing knockdown in round two contrasted with Corbett's late rally. controversy centered on McVey entering the ring. Sharkey hailed as a strong defensive fighter, second only to Fitzsimmons.
