Sam D. Clark, an escapee from LaGrange with a 12 month auto theft sentence, and a stolen Buick touring car, were captured in Plains by town marshal J. C. Arrington. Clark, 23, fled after being confronted at a gas station and was surrounded by locals, jailed, then turned over to Sheriff Carley of Troup. A $25 reward was paid.

Two Americas men injured in crossing collision near Americus
John Oliver and W G Herron, prominent figures from Plains and St Louis, suffered serious injuries when their Buick was struck on the Smithville road crossing west of Americus by Seaboard through freight No 87. They could not see the train due to obstructed view and were carried far into the wreckage. Herron faces a broken hip and internal injuries. Oliver has a fractured knee and shock. The whistle blew as usual. rescue and medical teams attended to the victims. Herron, a Purina Milling salesman, and Oliver, Georgia Motor Company proprietor, were en route on a tire sales trip.
